I've noticed that the definiiton of "marriage" is completely different between Apple's definition and the Merriam-Webster definition. Can someone tell me why this is? what "dictionary" does Apple use?

You would have to subscribe to prove it, but I'm near certain it's the Oxford English Dictionary. Reference: http://www.apple.com/accessibility/macosx/literacylearning.html

Hmmm, the app appears to rely on free services so I'm revising my answer. It's the Concise Oxford English Dictionary ( http://www.askoxford.com/ ), which is freely available to compare with the Apple Dictionary results. I did compare the results for 'context' and am satisfied they are the same.
